Black Veil Brides has emulated KISS in many ways, mostly with great results. On their fourth album, they turned to notorious/legendary savior/lightning rod producer Bob Rock who either helped or destroyed such bands as Motley Crue and Metallica, depending on your point of view. The output is similar to the Desmond Child / KISS collaborations – great pop hits or a horrible devolution of the band, depending on your perspective. The songs here are easily digestible, which is good if you are new to the band, but a bit disappointing if you have followed them from the beginning. The songs are short and most are fast paced, full of big background vocals and staccato riffs. There’s nothing quite wrong with this album, it is just not as emotionally captivating and memorable as their previous efforts. Perhaps this is an attempt to grab some more mainstream success. Hopefully BVB will be more inspired to return to their emotional roots on the next effort.
Destructo: West Coast
Los Angeles-based producer DESTRUCTO’s new “WEST COAST” EP will be out Tuesday, November 24, 2012 on Insomniac Records/Interscope. It features tracks with artists such as Problem, YG, Too $hort, Kurupt, Ty Dolla $ign, and Warren G. The opening track entitled “West Coast” samples a few lines from the Dre and Snoop song called “The Next Episode” including “hold up”, “get my drink on”, and “my smoke on”. This is the type of song you would play really loud while riding your BMX with your crew. The next song, “Dare You 2 Move”, features Problem for a sick beat with quite possibly the explanation for why rappers keep telling their audiences to throw up their hands. Personally it’s my favorite song on the whole album, and it includes many references to old songs and some more recent ones, kinda like Family Guy does. “Party Up” is a track with the more famous YG, who has a few more lyrics than the last guy, but the drop is much more intense; probably because the second one didn’t really have one at all. “Bust Them Cheeks” featuring Too $hort uses many analogies to get his point across. It sounds like a good song for blasting in your car while mobbing. It’s just a mobbing type of song. Kurupt lays some lyrics on the song “Scuzzlebutt” which has a nasty meaning, which is probably why he talks about why she’s there after hours at the club. It is a great song for when you’re in the mood to just dance, or even if you want to learn some lyrics to a song that’s good, but you don’t really want to learn individual verses like the song “Rap God” by Eminem which has over 1,500 lyrics. “Nobody Else” with TY Dolla $ign and Warren G is the track to play for a girl when you two are alone in the car, or when your single friend is in the back and you want to make him jealous. The verses have a steady pace, but the chorus is just a bit too slow for me.

SANCTUARY’s new album, The Year The Sun Died, is the long-awaited follow-up to the band’s first two studio albums that were released on Epic Records: Refuge Denied (1987) and Into the Mirror Black (1989). Singer Warrel Dane’s sky-high vocals combined with guitarist Lenny Rutledge’s more mature take on classic thrash riffs separated the group from the throes of metal acts struggling to get noticed at the time. With The Year The Sun Died, SANCTUARY continues that legacy that they started decades ago, delivering yet another fresh take on “classic-sounding” metal. For a preview of the album, be sure to check out the following previously released singles: “Frozen“, “Exitium (Anthem of the Living)“, “Arise and Purify“.

Toronto, ON – November 17, 2014 – Toronto-based pop-rock-rap group, Down With Webster, is thrilled to announce their upcoming U.S. tour with Jonny Craig, Kyle Lucas, and Captain Midnite! The band is currently finishing up their current tour with Timeflies and will be heading out on the road with Jonny Craig starting on January 14th in West Hollywood, CA. See below for the full list of dates. Down With Webster have recently been in the studio working on new music with Matt Squire (Ariana Grande, Panic! At The Disco, 3OH!3) to follow up their latest album Party For Your Life. For more information on Down With Webster, please visit: www.downwithwebster.com
From their first performance at a high school talent show, Down With Webster have created their own flavor of genre-bending sounds, and blown away audiences ever since. After winning the “Best Unsigned Band” recognition from Rogers Mobile, DWW attracted attention from record labels, and musical heavyweights including Sir Richard Branson, Timbaland, and KISS front man Gene Simmons. Today, the group is built of two emcees (Cam Hunter & Bucky), a DJ (Diggy), a charismatic lead singer (Pat Gillett), and one of the most talented rhythm sections in the game (Andrew “Marty” Martino on drums, Tyler Armes on bass/keys). One might describe their sound as hip-hop with a hint of electro-alternative, delivered by a kick ass rock band.
In the few years since practicing in their parents garage, Down With Webster’s songs have charted at Top40 Radio, amassed more than 500,000 Facebook likes, sold 900,000 downloads and 100,000 albums. Their videos have been streamed over 15 million times, and they’ve rocked hundreds of shows. It’s their tireless pursuit of creating the greatest party on stage that has won them loyal believers coast to coast, and earned them this description from UPVENUE Magazine: “It’s like taking a handful of fireworks, lighting them, then throwing them in to a barrel of fireworks.”
Because their music defies classification, and they’ve been called “the second coming of The Beastie Boys,” Down With Webster has earned the respect of, and both shared the stage with, and performed with, LMFAO, Timbaland, Ludacris, Lil Jon, 3OH!3 and even KISS.
Down With Webster’s new album Party For Your Life debuted as the #1 digital album in Canada (#2 overall on the charts), and enlisted collaborators Ludvin (Childish Gambino), Boi-1da (Drake, Eminem), and have reunited with production duo The Maven Boys (Meek Mill, Childish Gambino) to help them continue their twist of conventional music genres. Songs from the album have already been licensed by NBC’s hit show “The Voice,” as well as CBC for the 2014 Winter Olympics. The band also recently wrapped up a U.S. tour with Hoodie Allen this past spring.

DEATH OF AN ERA PREMIERE NEW MUSIC VIDEO FOR “WE THE PEOPLE” EXCLUSIVELY ON REVOLVER
Band To Tour With Headliner Phinehas
(New York, NY) – Death of an Era has premiered their new music video for the song “We The People” on Revolver. “The video was directed and produced by Jeremy Tremp and Shan Dan of Shadow Born Group. This is the first music video from their debut album Black Bagged (Razor & Tie/Artery Recordings) – iTunes Store. The album was produced by Kevin Lankford (This Or The Apocalypse, The Crimson Armada).
The band will be hitting road this winter on the The Shredding and Sledding Tour with Phinehas (tour dates below).
The Columbus, OH based death metal band Death of an Era was formed in 2013 while the band members were still in high school. After a successful run promoting their critically acclaimed second EP The Great Commonwealth, the band holed up in a hometown studio with Kevin Lankford during early 2014. They’ve crushed venues all over the country and continually accrued acclaim from the likes of Alternative Press, who showcased them prominently in AP&R, in the process. Black Bagged hints at just how deep their message and music are. Confronting everything from child abuse and drug addiction to deceit and bullying head-on, the group—Daniel Simpson [vocals], Nathan Stewart [guitar], Dustin Colling [guitar], and brothers Chris [bass] and Michael Cooper [drums]—offer catharsis in the face of chaos.
